I recently won the pitch to score an advert for London-based crowd-funding journalism site Byline, which provides a platform to connect readers with investigative journalists. I also handled all licensing contracts.

This was a project of particular interest to me as someone with 15+ years of journalism experience (including time on staff at two national newspapers) and with many former colleagues currently navigating the new landscape – one where even The Guardian are coming round to the idea of a sustainable model. Byline’s approach raises interesting questions about funding models, media bias and other factors transforming the industry.

Byline co-founder is Peter Jukes, who live-tweeted the News International phone hacking trial in 2013 and persuaded his followers to pay him to continue.
